The Olympics in Paris in 2024: a team victory for a jubilant and exemplary Games

Paris has been elected host city of the 2024 Olympic Games during the 131st session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 13 September in Lima.
The President of the Republic and the whole of his Government are proud of the IOC’s decision to entrust the organisation of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Paris and to France. France "will bear with pride the Olympic values of solidarity, excellence, friendship and respect," Emmanuel Macron proclaimed.
For more than two years the whole country has rallied in an unprecedented manner round Paris' bid, and this victory is the reward for such committed team efforts.

The benefits of these Games being hosted in Paris will be felt across the nation. For the President of the Republic, this is a tremendous opportunity "to support the changes the country is going through, enhance its international appeal, breathe new life into our local communities and raise the profile of sport nationwide".
"100 years on, the Olympic dream is coming true! These Games will be a boost in our local communities" underlined Julien Denormandie, Minister of State, attached to the Minister of Territorial Cohesion.
Thanks to the Government's active efforts, the Olympic Games will set a glowing example in terms of budget control, their environmental and social impact, and security concerns.
