Paris attacks: an Inter-ministerial Victim Support Unit (CIAV) to help families

An Inter-ministerial Victim Support Unit (CIAV - Cellule Interministérielle d’Aide aux Victimes) has been set up on the Quai d'Orsay to provide a point of contact for victims' families. The unit can be reached on the toll-free number +33 800 40 60 05.

The Inter-ministerial Victim Support Unit comprises representatives of the Ministries for Justice, the Interior, Health and Foreign Affairs, the INAVEM (National Institute for Victim Support and Mediation) and the FENVAC (National Federation of the Victims of Catastrophes). The unit has handled over 10, 600 calls to date (updated at 23/11/2015 at 02:00 p.m.). All of the families concerned can turn to the CIAV for support.
The victim support unit has extended its efforts to help families and close friends and relatives by opening a reception and information centre at the École Militaire. Support teams consisting of psychologists, health professionals, police experts and representatives of the Ministry for Justice are on hand to deal with the needs of families and their close friends and relatives. At this stage, nearly 300 families have contacted the centre (updated at 23/11/2015 at 02:00 p.m.).
All families claiming not to have received any news regarding a loved one are being systematically called back.
