What to do in the event of bad weather

Here are some guidelines in the event of bad weather in France.
Do not:
  • Pick up your children from school, they will be looked after by the teachers or emergency services
  • Move away from areas by the sea and lakes; stop all outdoor activity
  • If using generators, follow the instructions and place them outdoors
  • Bring indoors any objects likely to be blown away by the wind
  • Help your neighbours; check on elderly or disabled people
  • Stay informed about possible risks of flooding or submersion
  • Regularly consult the weather alerts on the Météo France website
At home
Do not:
  • Block the air vents in your home
  • Close the doors and shutters
  • Unplug electrical appliances and television aerials
