Paris Peace Forum: furthering good governance

In the context of activities celebrating the centennial of the Armistice of 1918, the Government is taking an active part in the launch of the Paris Peace Forum, which is set to become the annual rendezvous for ideas and initiatives on global governance, around the five themes of peace and security, the environment, development, new technologies and the inclusive economy.

Economists have the Davos Forum and security experts have Munich, Shangri-La and Valdai – but so far there has been no Forum designed to further the cause of good governance. The first Paris Peace Forum, to be held at the Grande Halle de La Villette in Paris from 11 to 13 November 2018, seeks to fill this gap and become a platform for exchange and debate promoting civil society initiatives and original projects on governance.

The Forum will also provide an opportunity for sharing experiences and innovative solutions, bringing together actors in governance from throughout the world (project promoters and decision-makers concerned – States, such international bodies as the UN of course, and including G7, G20, BRICS and OECD among others) to launch formal initiatives, track-two exercises, mediations and bilateral dialogues.

Several thousand participants are expected and 150 projects will be presented in the “Space of Solutions” (exhibition area).
