Ambassadors' Week: a unique opportunity for developing projects and finding out more about what France is doing abroad

This year's Ambassadors' Week is taking place from 28 to 31 August 2017 in Paris. The theme selected for the 2017 Edition, "Revitalising our action in a radically changing world", provides the public with an insight into what our diplomats do and a clearer understanding of the challenges of today's world.

For the 25th year in a row, the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, will be setting out the diplomatic roadmap for all the ambassadors gathered. Ambassadors' Week will be opened by Jean-Yves Le Drian on 28 August and closed by Edouard Philippe on 31 August, and a programme highlight will be the President of the Republic’s keynote speech at the Elysée Palace on 29 August.

As a sign of the Franco-German friendship and commitment to refounding the European project, also attending this year's Week is Sigmar Gabriel, German Minister for Foreign Affairs, who is scheduled to speak on 30 August.  Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, will also be a guest of honour.

Events for developing international projects and finding out more about the work that diplomats do

Some of the Ambassadors' Week’s events are also opportunities for showcasing the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs' efforts to a broad audience. Some examples:

  • The event "1 ambassador 1 entrepreneur": 15-minute meetings for entrepreneurs keen on exporting or locating abroad to present their projects to the ambassadors of the countries they are targeting, and to assess opportunities.

  • The event "I can meet an ambassador": the public is invited to come and meet the standard-bearers of France's diplomatic action and to attend round tables on topical issues. Ambassadors taking part in this event will also talk about their work and their daily lives as diplomats.

  • The digital space "The Studio": This digital and audiovisual stand will have a set and four cameras for following some of the week's events, which will be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube: live broadcasts, interviews, personal experiences and behind-the-scene reports.
