5th Economic and Financial Dialogue between France and China

Bruno Le Maire was in China from 30 November to 2 December. During his visit there, the Minister of Economy and Finance joined the Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai to co-chair the annual dialogue between China and France on economic and financial questions: the “High-Level Economic and Financial Dialogue” (DEFHN – Dialogue économique et financier de haut niveau). The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to call to mind the many existing partnerships between French and Chinese companies and consider fresh opportunities for the future.

The 5th DEFHN focused mainly on the four following themes:

  • Global economic governance;
  • Partnerships between French and Chinese companies and market access in the aeronautics, nuclear, agrifood, automotive and other sectors: questions central to the close bilateral relationship between China and France;
  • Cooperation on financial regulation, which continues to develop and where future opportunities appear particularly promising;
  • Strategic issues involved in the influence of technological progress on growth, employment and inequalities.
